In the “Clinic of Medical Experts” we treat a variety of neurological disorders. Besides the common neurological treatments, we have specialized in the specific treatment of Parkinson’s, the stereotactic radiotherapy / radiosurgery and procedures on the cervical and lumbar spine.

Parkinson’s disease

In the field of neurological movement disorder, Parkinson’s disease is one of the most prevalent diseases. It is characterized by muscle stiffness and tremors and movement and posture disorders. Due to these symptoms, Parkinson is colloquially called “shaking palsy” as well, which is caused by the degradation of dopamine-producing nerve cells in the brain.

Medicine differs further sensory, vegetative, psychological and cognitive disorders. The diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease is usually made clinically, including through imaging, neurological examination and functional tests.

The modern treatment with transcranial direct current simulation (tDCS) cannot cure the disease, but it reduces the accompanying symptoms. By stimulating the brain waves, this non-invasive method gives a relief of symptoms. Thanks to this method of treatment, surgery is not necessary and hence serious side effects and stresses on the body can be prevented. The causes of Parkinson’s disease are still unknown.

Your health and improvement of the quality of life are important to us, so we look after you during your stay around the clock and adjust your therapy according to your needs.

Stereotactic radiosurgery

With stereotactic radiosurgery (SRC), a small area of the body is irradiated with millimetre precision with a very high dose. The radiation shrinks the tumour tissue, surgery may therefore be frequently avoided. Thanks to this method, no damage is done to healthy surrounding tissue, the side effects and their impact on the body are low too.

The treatment with “Stereotactic radiosurgery” takes place through ionising radiation in the so-called Gamma Knife. The area to be irradiated is fixed, images show very accurately the size and location of the tumour. The Stereotactic radiosurgery is especially useful for small tumours. In stereotactic surgery, only a few or perhaps only one exposure may be needed due to the high dose in contrast to the stereotactic therapy (SRT). We treat most of the benign tumours in this way.

Our medical team combines many years of experience and the latest technology. We always try tofind gentle treatment options for you and advise you in detail so that we can achieve the best results with the therapy.

Stereotactic radiotherapy

The stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) is a very precise type of radiation. The rays come from different directions and replicate in the tumour, so that the cells can be selectively destroyed. In order to use the Stereotactic radiotherapy successfully, the tumour must clearly be separated from healthy tissue.

In the first step of treatment, the exact location of the tumour is found by using MRI or CT. In order to perform a radiation with pinpoint accuracy, the correct position of the patient during treatment is especially important. We apply the Stereotactic radiotherapy successfully for the treatment of metastases, cavernous, neurinoma, meningioma, chondroma, pituitary adenoma, chondrosarcoma and vascular malformation.

Healthy tissue remains almost completely spared in Stereotactic radiotherapy due to the millimetre-precise application of the beam. Thanks to this fact, the therapy is well tolerated and there are hardly any side effects. The Stereotactic radiotherapy spread over several sessions, as opposed to stereotactic radiosurgery (SRC). If the tumour is located near critical structures such as the brainstem, optic nerve or optic chiasm or is particularly large, this form of therapy is recommended.

In addition to the first-class medical care in our clinic, you can enjoy a high level of comfort and can reinvigorate your body.
